Aim and content:

The Journal Club aims at training the participants' skills in reading and understanding current publications in the field of diagnostic veterinary pathology. It also aims at improving writing skills for their own publications. An important aim is to also increase awareness of articles relevant for the examination of the European College of Veterinary Pathology. Memorizing the content of presented papers is highly desirable. (Seminar 14 hours).

Strongly suggested: Reading of current contents of diagnostically relevant journals (Vet Pathol, J Comp Pathol etc.)

How to write and publish a scientific paper

Description:

The seminar aims to provide an overview over the process of preparing a scientific publication. A second emphasis will be placed on the organization and procedure of the publishing and printing process (concept of editor/publisher/printer, criteria for the choice of an appropriate journal, article categories, manuscript submission, procedure of peer review, resubmission, reprints, püatent/protected publication, electronic publication), single seminar, 3 hours.

Having studied a large number of different kinds of scientific publication suggested readings:
